How Branta Works
Branta runs on your computer much like traditional anti-virus software. It is specifically designed to secure the ecosystem around your Bitcoin stack.
Five Core Automations
PGP Checksum Verification on Install
If you're a hardcore Bitcoiner, your custody model may look something like this:
- Coldcard
- Sparrow
- Steel Plate
If it does, you're off to a great start. However, there's more than meets the eye here.
If you scroll through the Sparrow Download page, you'll see instructions on verifying the release. This is a critical step.
Depending on your Operating System, the steps generally involve:
- Importing the authors keys
- Downloading the manifest.txt / manifest.txt.asc
- Verifying the manifest.txt.asc
- Verifying the installer with SHA256 against the authors keys
These steps give you confidence in the authenticity of your Sparrow Wallet. Cumbersome?
Branta automates this entire process. Drag & drop the wallet and instantly see if your download is genuine.

Clipboard Guardian
Unless you're a computer, Bitcoin addresses aren't easy to memorize, let alone speak out loud.
This makes it hard or nearly impossible to "remember" an address (unless you're using vanity addresses, which isn't very likely).
What most people do when they transact is copy and paste the receive address.
What happens next is usually a "double checking" of the address on your signing device screen or your wallet software.
The problem is, the human eye isn't meant to scan more than about 10 characters.
Branta was designed to alleviate you of this hindrance. Branta alerts you as soon as a bitcoin address hits your clipboard.
So when you Control-C from your sender, you'll see a notification of the new address in your clipboard.
If malware tampers with your clipboard before sending (injecting a totally new address, or even a similar looking vanity address), Branta alerts you in real time.
Monitor Network Traffic
Have you ever taken the time to pry into your wallet to see what network connections are being used?
Normal wallet connections would include:
- Connecting to Bitcoin Nodes
- Pulling fees from Mempool
- Checking for Wallet Updates
But how do you know your wallet isn't doing more?
- Tracking analytics
- Leaking privacy
- Remote code execution
Attackers hit and run remotely, and they always use the internet to do so.
Branta gives you insight to what network activity is going on under the hood.
Background Integrity Checking
Branta can automatically verify your wallet is genuine during install.
But for us, this wasn't good enough.
We built Branta to protect your wallet software before and after install.
Advanced malware targets your wallet after install, changing the code's behavior.
With Branta, you have continuous protection - Branta runs checksums in the background and alerts if any changes are detected, like how a tripwire operates.
You can see the current state of your bitcoin related software on the home screen.
Pre-Transaction Status
Branta is built for every day use.
In Bitcoin, there are no reversals, and no refunds. Mistakes are final.
Branta knows which application is in the foreground - if a bitcoin wallet enters the foreground, Branta instantly notifies you with the status, so without even opening Branta you know that your wallet is safe (or not) to use.
